July 4th

There is more to July 4th then watermelon, fireworks, and parades. Of course it is fun to grill veggies and make dessert using the colors of our flag, but this is only the surface celebration. As a child we would watch the musical 1776 often and especially on this day.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest you go out and do so. It is a wonderful film that gives us a glimpse of the process our founding fathers took in severing our ties with England to become our own country.

Over the next few days (as long as my internet is working), I hope to go through the Declaration of Independence and share with you the things I cherish within it, and take the time to understand the eloquence and importance of this document. If you haven’t yet read the Declaration of Independence, then look it up right now. It isn’t as short as a tweet but it is not a novel either.

Happy 4th of July and thank you to every soldier that protects our country.
