Double the Endorphin’s

In response to the daily prompt “Two Right Feet”

What are the things you need to do within 30 minutes of waking up to ensure your day gets off on the right foot? What happened the last time you didn’t do one of these things?

The alarm clock starts buzzing at 4:45 am. Within one minute I am downstairs boiling water for some pour over coffee. During the few minutes it takes the water to reach a hot enough temperature my nose is breathing in the coffee grinds. Pinion nuts have been roasted and ground with the beans. This is among my favorite coffees. I don’t have a coffee maker at this place. So I dump grinds into a metal tea strainer and pour water over. The black sweet nectar barely lasts two minutes but it was greatly enjoyed. A second cup soon follows, motivation for the road. Daily happiness part one complete and I have only been up for 7 minutes.

1.5 miles and ten minutes later my bike is locked up in front of the boat house. A good warm up before a 90 minute rowing session. From 4 layers to shorts and a tank. Outside it is 15 degrees but indoors we could be in a sauna. During intervals, stepping into the fresh cold air is welcomed. Happiness part two complete. Another 1.5 miles returns me home for a post workout cup of coffee.

Any morning not started in these ways usually leads to a sluggish and unmotivated day.
